Established in 1926, the mission of the Phillipsburg City Library is to serve the informational, recreational, and educational needs of the community.
It seeks to make available the materials and services that will meet the wide range of interests and needs represented by the public it serves.
Membership in the Central Kansas Library System and the Kansas Interlibrary Loan Network allows access to collections and services extending beyond the local community.
Library cards are free and issued to all individuals. Parents must sign for children under the age of 18. Please contact the library when you change your address, name, email, or telephone number.
Materials may be checked out for 2 weeks. Current magazines may be checked out overnight. Current books are checked our for 5 days. Videos are checked out for 1 week.
Fines are $0.05 per day, excluding Sunday and holidays.
You are responsible for loss or damage to all materials borrowed on your card. Charges will include the full price of lost items plus a $1.50 handling fee per item.
Reserves & Renewals
If we own a book you want, but someone else is reading it, we will reserve the book and notify you when it is available. Materials not on reserve may be renewed in person, by phone, or online. For information on how to access the online catalog, please call the Library at (785) 543-5325.
Choose from originals and prints to decorate your home or office. These can be checked out for 2 months at a time.
Audio books on cassettes, CDs, and Playaways are available.
Brown Bag Movie
Held by request on Wednesdays at 12:00 noon. Bring your lunch and enjoy a movie.
Public use of the copy machine provides letter, legal, and ledger size copies as well as color copies for a fee.
Various equipment including laptops and projectors are available for rent.
The Phillips County Genealogical Society's research collection is housed at the Phillipsburg City Library. The collection includes the New England Register and local microfilm from 1878 to the present. Volunteers are available to offer assistance with research. The Phillips County Genealogical Society meets at 7:30 pm on the third Monday of each month at the library.
Internet workshops are held at the library. Check with library staff for scheduling.
Large Print Books
A collection of numerous and various large print books are available.
CCTV magnifies up to 50 times to enlarge print or photos.
Pre-School Story Time
Weekly activities for 3-5 year olds are held September through April.
Summer Library Program
Six weeks of summer activities for kids from pre-school to 4th grade.
Videos & DVDs
More than 500 educational and recreational adult and children are available for 1 week loan.

Memorials & Monetary Gifts
Memorials and monetary gifts are accepted to show you or your families continued support of the library.
You may also support the library by volunteering to assist with projects.
